A Chordial Benefit

Riders' Trust held it's second Back In the Race Benefit on January 11, 2002 to benefit Lansing musician, Brian FitzGerald.

Rider's Trust held "a Chordial Benefit" for Brian FitzGerald, on Friday, January 11, at the HayMarket, in Decorah.  FitzGerald and his musical partner Marty McCormack make up the immensely' popular local band, Switchback.

FitzGerald had surgery in early November to remove two growths from his vocal chords -' hence the tongue-in-cheek name of the benefit.  Because FitzGerald is a self-employed musician,' his insurance was not sufficient to cover his medical costs.

"The benefit included music by Switchback and guests, lots of dancing, and food prepared especially for the occasion by Jim McCaffery, Decorah's culinary Superman," benefit organizer Sharon Grimm said.

"Brian and his music have brought countless people in Decorah so much pleasure, and now we had a chance to give Brian something back," Grimm said.

Proceeds raised from the evening totaled over $1400 and was used to help cover Brian FitzGerald's medical expenses.
